"Essence of Healing: The Journey of American Indian Nurses"

Film and Dialogue on the Nursing Profession and the Native American Experience.

Featured Speaker: Dr. Misty Wilkie, Associate Professor of Bemedji State University

Objectives and outcomes for participation and dialogue:

Participants will be able to:

1.    Identify barriers that Natives have faced in pursuing the nursing profession

2.    Identify with the influences and choices to pursue the nursing profession

3.    Explain Public Health Nursing and its impact on Native communities

4.    Compare personal beliefs and biases to laws, policies and institutional practices

5.    Apply a framework for discussing equity

6.    Identify ways to  bridge the gap between the American Indian culture and integrating it into nursing

Attendance is required for all Chicago BSN students.
