Hurst Reviews/AACN Nursing Scholarship

The scholarship program is available to prelicensure students enrolled at member AACN schools. Two scholarships in the amount of $2,500 will be awarded twice yearly (January and July).

Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund (APIASF) 

Please check back in September 2017 for the 2018-2019 APIASF General Scholarship Application. Scholarship awards range from one-time $2,500 awards to multi-year $20,000 awards. APIASF provides scholarships to underserved AAPI students with a special focus on those who:

  • Live at or below the poverty level, or are otherwise of low socioeconomic status;
  • Are the first in their families to attend college;
  • Are representative of the AAPI community's diversity, geographically and ethnically, especially those ethnicities that have been underrepresented on college campuses due to limited access and opportunity; and
  • Have placed strong emphasis on community service and leadership as well as solid academic achievement.

Geraldine "Polly" Bednash Scholarship

All scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. Maintain at least a 3.2 grade point average in current program or at last school attended.

2. Be admitted or enrolled in a baccalaureate or higher degree nursing program at an AACN member institution affiliated with CastleBranch (see http://www.aacn.nche.edu/students/scholarships/CBSchools.pdf). OR have submitted your application to a nursing school through NursingCAS (see https://portal.nursingcas.org).

Association of Women's Health, Obstetrics and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Pampers Minority Nurse Scholarship

To apply for this scholarship, students must meet all four of the following criteria:
• Be a minority in the nursing profession
• Be enrolled in an accredited MSN program in the United States OR an accelerated master’s entry program in nursing for students with bachelor’s degrees in fields other than nursing (such as BA-to-MSN). Applicants must be seeking degree in women’s or mother/baby specialties (EX: Women’s Health, Neonatal or Obstetric care) 
• Have a 3.0 GPA or better (on a 4.0 scale)
• Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident

Emergency Medicine Foundation/ENA Foundation Joint Research Grant

The ENA Foundation and Sigma Theta Tau International, Inc. (STTI) have combined resources to offer this annual research grant. The ENA Foundation/STTI research grant provides funding for research that will advance the specialized practice of emergency nursing.

American Holistic Nurses Association Research Grants

The purpose of all AHNA Awards and Scholarships is to recognize and celebrate nurses dedicated to a practice of holistic nursing consistent with the beliefs and values held by holistic nurses.

NURSE Corps Loan Repayment Program

We support registered nurses (RNs), advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs), and nurse faculty by paying up to 85% of their unpaid nursing education debt.

National Health Service Corps Scholarships

You can apply to the Scholarship Program if you are committed to primary care and accepted to or enrolled in an accredited U.S. school in one of the following primary care disciplines:

  • Physicians (MD or DO)
  • Dentists
  • Nurse Practitioners (post graduate degree with clinical practice focus)
  • Certified Nurse-Midwives
  • Physician Assistants

The scholarship pays tuition, fees, other educational costs, and provides a living stipend in return for a commitment to work at least 2 years at an NHSC-approved site in a medically underserved community.

Indian Health Service

For members of federally recognized Tribes and villages. You must be enrolled in an eligible health profession degree program.

AfterCollege/AACN $10,000 Scholarship Fund

The AfterCollege-AACN Scholarship Fund supports students who are seeking a baccalaureate, master’s or doctoral degree in nursing. Special consideration will be given to students in a graduate program with the goal of becoming a nurse educator; students completing an RN-to-BSN or RN-to-MSN program; and those enrolled in an accelerated program.

Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities

All scholarship applicants MUST meet the following criteria:

  • Demonstrate financial need if required by scholarship sponsor (typically determined by FAFSA).

  • Meet specific criteria for the scholarships to which they are applying.

AAUW Lombard Area Branch Scholarships

Lombard Area AAUW is offering one $1600 scholarship for the 2017-2018 school year. Women are eligible who meet these three criteria:

  • Reside in Lombard, Villa Park, Oakbrook Terrace, Wheaton, Addison,
    Glendale Heights 
    or Glen Ellyn, Illinois.
  • Are continuing Higher Education after a significant interruption, and
  • Are pursuing a certification program, undergraduate or graduate degree, not including a doctoral program.

NHSC Loan Repayment Program

Primary care medical, dental and behavioral health clinicians can get up to $50,000 to repay their health profession student loans in exchange for a two-year commitment to work at NHSC-approved sites in high-need, underserved areas.

NHSC Zika Loan Repayment Program

Health care providers can receive up to $70,000 in exchange for a three-year commitment at NHSC-approved sites as they work to address the health effects and risks associated with Zika.

National Black Nurses Association, Inc

NBNA is committed to excellence in education and conducts continuing education programs for nurses and allied health professionals throughout the year. The association provides annual scholarships for students.

Scholarships provide funding for continuing education. This funding enables nurses to grow and better contribute their talents to the health and healthcare of our communities.

Hispanic Scholarship Fund

The HSF Scholarship is designed to assist students of Hispanic heritage obtain a college degree. Scholarships are available, on a competitive basis, to:

  • Undergraduate students (all years)

  • Community collge students transferring to four year universities

  • Graduate Students

Arlington Heights Nurses Club - email arlingtonheightsnursesclub@gmail.com for an application

The Arlington Heights, Illinois Nurses Club provides scholarship assistance to students who are residents of Arlington Heights and are currently enrolled in a National League for Nursing (NLN) and/or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CNNE) approved nursing program for the upcoming school year. This includes students enrolled in BSN completion programs if it applies to your institution. The applicant must currently demonstrate a minimum B average in all college level coursework as well as financial need. In addition, they must have successfully completed at least one clinical rotation in nursing, or be a CNA or LPN. Health Professions Scholarship Program

The purpose of this program is to provide financial assistance to individuals pursuing a program of study leading to a Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Nursing.  This program will help alleviate the health care workforce shortages in VA by obligating scholarship recipients to complete a minimum 2-year service obligation at a VA health care facility after graduation and licensure/certification.

The Scholarship awards provide for the payment of a monthly stipend, tuition, required fees, and other reasonable educational expenses, including books and necessary equipment.  The benefits are exempt from Federal taxation. 

Catharine Wilder Guiles Scholarship 

The University of Southern Maine is pleased to announce the Catharine Wilder Guiles Scholarship to students who are planning to work with the adult mental health population in the state of Maine.The program is intended for students who are matriculated into their second year of the MS in Nursing program, Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner concentration or the MSW program. The purpose of the program is to help those students who are a Maine resident with a demonstrated financial need. The winners of the scholarship will receive $2,000 award for the academic year.

The University of Southern Maine is a multi-campus public comprehensive university and part of the University of Maine System. USM’s three primary campuses are located in Portland, Gorham, and Lewiston in the U.S.

Eligibility:

  • Must be matriculated into either the MS in Nursing program, Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner concentration or the MSW program
  • Must be in the second year of graduate program
  • Must be a Maine resident with a demonstrated financial need
  • Preference will be given to students who plan to work with adults in the public sector of the State of Maine

ILLINOIS AMVETS SERVICE FOUNDATION VETERANS SCHOLARSHIPS

Eligibility:

  • Veteran with a permanent Illinois address.
  • Honorably Discharged
  • Enrolled as a full-time student 2 or 4-year College or University, Vocational or Technical School in Illinois. Student does not need to be a freshman.

Geraldine "Polly" Bednash Scholarship

Nursing Education Scholarship Program - IDHP

To be eligible for a scholarship an applicant must:

  1. Be a resident of Illinois for at least one year prior to application;
  2. Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States;
  3. Be enrolled in or accepted for admission to a nursing program in Illinois that isapproved by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.Approved schools can be found by clicking on Illinois Approved NursingEducation Programs under RESOURCES in the right-hand column;
  4. Demonstrate financial need based on the applicant’s Student Aid Report; and
  5. Agree to the nurse employment or nurse educator employment obligation.

American Nurses Foundation

The American Nurses Foundation Nursing Research Grants Program was founded almost 60 years ago to encourage the research career development of nurses. This program continues to grow with contributions for nursing research, from organizations and individuals. These donations support scientific research for advancing the practice of nursing, promoting health and preventing disease.

Rural Nurse Practitioner Scholarship Program

Students applying for the scholarship must have the following credentials: 1. Illinois resident 2. Registered nurse 3. University Nurse Practitioner Program acceptance

Based upon selection by the Scholarship Committee, a grant award of $4,000 shall be paid directly to the recipient’s educational institution offering the approved nurse practitioner curriculum.

Minority Nurse Faculty Scholarship

The Johnson & Johnson/AACN Minority Nurse Faculty Scholars program provides financial support to graduate nursing students from minority backgrounds who agree to teach in a school of nursing after graduation. Students must be enrolled full-time and preference is given to students in doctoral programs.

The NurseJournal.org Annual Global Health Scholarship

NurseJournal.org offers a $3,000 Annual Scholarship
for those seeking to enter or complete their career in the Global Health field.

Nursing Economic$ Foundation Scholarships

The Candidate:

  1. must be matriculated or matriculating into an accredited, degree-granting, Masters or Doctoral nursing program with an emphasis on administration or management for the 2017-2018 school year at a School of Nursing in the United States.
  2. must plan to continue in the field of nursing with a career interest in nursing administration, management, leadership, or education upon completion of degree program.
  3. must be a Registered Nurse (RN) and a United States citizen.

NURSE Corps Scholarship Program

As a student accepted or enrolled in a diploma, associate, baccalaureate, or graduate degree nursing program, you can receive funding for tuition, fees, and other educational costs. In exchange you must work at an eligible facility with a critical shortage of nurses-a Critical Shortage Facility (CSF)-upon graduation.

AICPA Fellowship for Minority Doctoral Students

2017 AICPA Fellowship for Minority Doctoral Students is available for the full-time minority accounting scholars who demonstrate significant potential to become accounting educators. It is also for the doctoral students who are enrolled or will pursue a course related to doctorate.

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) Scholarship Program

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities is pleased to offer scholarship opportunities to assist in defraying some of your college expenditures.

American Addiction Centers (AAC) Health Academic Scholarship Program

  • High School graduate as of Summer 2017
  • Open to full or part-time college undergraduate or graduate students
  • Enrolled or entering an academic program in nursing, counseling, psychology, social work, marriage/family therapy, or other curriculum that focuses on treating mental health and substance use disorders.

NLN Foundation for Nursing Education Scholarship Awards

These scholarships are awarded to nurses pursuing advanced degrees in preparation for a career as a full-time academic nurse educator. The funds are for master’s or doctoral students enrolled in accredited programs who have completed at least a year of their academic program. The NLN foundation wants encourage more experienced and ethnically diverse nurses to pursue advanced degrees to prepare for full-time positions as nurse educators.

Nurses Educational Funds (NEF) Scholarship

Nurses Educational Funds, Inc. (NEF) is a not-for-profit organization which seeks and distributes funds to baccalaureate prepared registered nurses who are in need of nursing scholarship assistance for graduate study. NEF is administered by a Board of Directors comprised of prominent leaders in nursing, business, and other professions. Nurses comprise the majority of board members. 

NEF has been in existence for over 100 years! It was in 1912 that the first two Isabel Hampton Robb scholarships were awarded to two nurses, Cecelia Evans and Lisle French. From then on NEF has continued to support nursing professionals motivated to seek graduate degrees. With the support of those who value the critical need for:

F.A. Davis is delighted to offer two nursing scholarships in 2017! $1,500 will be awarded to one undergraduate nursing student and to one graduate nursing student who is studying in the US or Canada. Cascade Health Solutions Scholarshipp

The Nurses Make a Difference Scholarship is an annual $1,000 scholarship awarded to an aspiring nurse who is currently enrolled in an undergraduate nursing program at a college or university or is a high school student who has been accepted into a school with an undergraduate nursing program. 

American Nurse Practitioners Foundation

Scholarship applicants must be formally admitted to and taking classes in a fully accredited Master’s of Nursing NP (MS or MSN-NP), Post- MS NP or Doctoral Program (DNP, PhD) and be in good standing.

Awards are limited to one scholarship per individual per funding year, award recipients are not eligible to apply for additional offerings until completion of their award funding year.

National Hispanic Health Foundation Scholarship Program

The National Hispanic Health Professional Student Scholarship Program  is the only national scholarship program targeted at Hispanic students who are committed to careers in health care and enrolled full-time in dental, medical, nursing, pharmacy, public health, and policy schools. 

Annual Senior Care Scholarships

A Place for Mom is proud to offer our annual $1,000 scholarship to university students interested in the fields of aging and gerontology.  As the North America's largest senior living referral service, we know the importance of supporting the training and education of our future senior care leaders.

This scholarship will be awarded to a citizen or a Permanent Resident of the United States or Canada (excluding Quebec) who is enrolled and currently taking classes at an accredited college or university in the United States or Canada (excluding Quebec), and will grant selected applicants a $1,000 financial donation for their compelling essays on life lessons learned from a senior.

American Cancer Society's Doctoral Degree Scholarships in Cancer Nursing

The American Cancer Society’s Doctoral Scholarship in Cancer Nursing was established by the American Cancer Society. The scholarship is for graduate students pursuing doctoral degrees in the fields of cancer research, education, administration, or clinical practice.

Association for Radiologic & Imaging Nursing Dorthy Budney Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is for active members of ARIN who have been so for at least three years. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must possess a current nursing license, be enrolled in an approved academic program, and have an overall 2.5 GPA.

NPHF/Proctor & Gamble Endowed Scholarships in Gastroenterology

The NPHF/Procter & Gamble Endowed Scholarship in Gastroenterology is awarded to one nurse practitioner graduate student whose clinical and/or research interests are in the field of gastroenterology. One scholarship in the amount of $1000 will be awarded.

UNIGO Education Matters Scholarship

  • Be legal residents of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia
  • Be currently enrolled (or enroll no later than the fall of 2023) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education

Youth Noise Scholarship

Here at Youth Noise, we recognize that the future will be shaped by the bold. NPHF/Proctor & Gamble Endowed Scholarsihp in Community Service

The NPHF/Procter & Gamble Endowed Scholarship in Community Service is awarded to one nurse practitioner graduate student who has made a significant positive contribution in school, in the community, or in patient care while in the pursuit of an advanced degree. One scholarship in the amount of $1000 will be awarded.

Lamber & Goodnow Injury Law Team Nursing Scholarship

  1. Must either be applying to a nursing program for enrollment the following year or currently enrolled in a nursing program that you will continue to be enrolled in through the following academic year.
  2. Essay submission must be received by December 1, each year.

American Indian Nurse Scholarship Program

The American Indian Nurse Scholarship Award Program was started by the NSCDA in 1928 to give students of American Indian descent the opportunity to pursue careers in nursing. The current goal is to grant a $1,500 scholarship each semester, as long as the student remains in academic good standing. The scholarship money is restricted to tuition and specific academic expenses.
